Sunshine

The Sun looked at the nine planets scattered around him and sighed.
“This will be a tough decision. Let’s do it by the good old
elimination process.”

“Well, Pluto is just too far. Men are from Mars and women are from
Venus, so there’s no chance with either of them. Mercury is known to
be poisonous in nature.”
“Saturn has a ring around it, so it is clearly taken. Best not to mess
around with a married lady. Jupiter has too much gas and sixty four moons
patrolling it. Wow! Forget it.”
“Neptune is surrounded by thirteen moons. Unlucky number. Uranus? It is the
coldest planet with five moons! Not possible…”
As the Sun’s gaze finally shifted to the Earth, he stood transfixed,
eyes wide with wonder. “This is it. It’s what I’ve been looking for! I
am yellow. The Earth is a lovely blue in color. Mix yellow and blue
and you get green – the color of nature!”

And so the Sun shone brightly, and just about rightly, upon us ever after…
